Potential Badboy – Lock Em Off / The Real
Having been in the game since ’92, Potential is a producer who knows a thing or two about how to make tracks to get people dancing, and ‘Lock Em Off’ – featuring long term collaborator Junior Dangerous on vocal duties – is no exception.
As usual Junior does a fine job of adding some essential swagger to a trademark Potential Badboy dancehall influenced backing track. Catchy hooks and understated basslines are the order of the day, creating a classic sound that any D&B fan will love.
Flip over and ‘The Real’ takes things on a deeper, darker and more experimental tip. Saw-toothed grizzles off bass and hip hop vocals are chopped and spliced together, offering a taste of the late-‘90s with up-to-date production values. This one will have the old skool heads bouncing along while the newcomers will get a taste of classic drum & bass.
