Optiv & BTK – Drop the Funk EP
Hype and Pascal present the new EP from Optiv & BTK ‘Drop the Funk’.
The Brit-turned-Swiss and Brazilian export heritage of this duo might sound diverse but collectively they bring together a history of colossal tunes for an impressive list of labels and they unite fans across Europe, South America and the rest of the world. Not to mention solid support from the likes of Friction, Ed Rush, Optical and co. Fusing sounds and bass and breakbeat production rhythms that make you get up and dance, the guys told KMag recently ‘We’re up early, it’s our job and we try to keep it serious and write beats on a daily basis.’ Clearly no slacking for these two then!
Dropping the title track of this EP to a crazy January Fabric crowd last Friday (at the Playaz night), this one is already making waves across YouTube, ‘Drop the Funk’ is a cheeky tune that is set to be huge.
The EP opens with ‘Slander’, which appeared on the duo’s promo mix for their 2012 Aussie and NZ tour and also includes ‘Get Dark’ and ‘Hack and Slash’ which fans may have heard on their FabricLive mix last year. ‘Drop the Funk’ featured in the guest mix Optiv & BTK did for 1Xtra’s Crissy Criss in October and the hardworking pair popped in with Friction on R1 at the weekend too.
