Annix – Forever
When Annix’s debut album ‘Inception’ came out back in 2013 it was one of the most hotly tipped album releases on the dnb calendar. Now Cheltenham duo Konichi and Decimal Bass return with a second album ‘Forever’ – which sees them a little older, wiser, but still as darn well talented.
Collaborating as Annix (feat Stangez) on ‘Axshun’ kicks the album off with a driving, edgy and dangerous track and this is followed up by Konichi’s ‘Contraband’ – squelchy and infectious!
Fans will be pleased to see that Decimal Bass’ ‘Low’ is included in the mix too and ‘Warriors’ (feat Killa P) was one of the standout cuts on the recent Playaz Radio Volume 5. The album title track ‘Forever’ is infinitely beautiful – with an amazing sax line jazz sample – really different and distinctive.
Konichi’s ‘Afraid’ is an in-your-face kicking of a tune and ‘Paper’ (feat Gumster) is a huge hard stepper which will have you singing along in seconds.
You might have caught the killer ‘Work for Nothing’ when Ivy Lab included the track in their mix for Mixmag and ‘Reverse Cold’ sees some mega vibes brought in from Konichi.
‘Crash’ is total mayhem; a crazy tune… and following that comes ‘Konnected’ which you might recall Sub Zero dropped in his R1 mix back in June. ‘Earwig’ was featured in Hype’s show last week and Annix’s ‘What You Know’ also got some recent R1 respect.
Finally, Decimal Bass brings in the expansive vocals of Benji Clements to round off the album with the chilled out ‘Taken it All’.
Annix might be the men of the moment, but we think the tunes will stick around for a long while. Maybe forever…
